How not to make Tamales

This is my second failed attempt at making tamales. These are Juan's hands trying to be helpful. The masa is supposed to be applied and spread with a spoon. I was busy making the pork filling and I glanced over to look at what he was doing. His face was so serious trying to be helpful, and I couldn't correct him. This was way cute, I had to take a photo. After five of these wonderful pieces of art, I then showed him how to apply it with a spoon, and he replied "but it is also sticking this way." So what can you do? I just left them this way. We had lots of fun!
